For the Birds

Idioms는 굉장히 오랜만에 게시하는군요? 그럼 어디 가봅시다.

For the Birds. It means 'uninteresting and meaningless'.
As always. We think about the conversation by using this term.

Mark : Kate. Did you complete your Korean homework?

Kate : No, I didn't. It's totally for the birds.

Mark : Hey, I think it wouldn't be good for you. Teacher must get anger.

Kate : Oh, I don't think so. Because that homework is not that important.

Mark : Well. I wish you will be fine.

간단한 표현입니다. 대화가 어색하다고 생각하시는 분들은 연락주세요.

Let the Cat Out of the Bag

It means 'inform beforehand'

When a result of Bob's grade was exposed, someone let the cat out of the bag.
So Bob did know his grade.

Hmm, I think I didn't make a good sentense.

Horse of a Different Color

It means 'quite a different matter'.

Easy!

Let's see, we can make a simple conversation.

Frank : Hi, what are you doing now?

Michael : Oh, hi. I'm making a plan to go to Japan.

F : Wow, when are you going to leave?

M : I'm not sure, I'm just making it.

F : Oh, Michael. I think it's not a productive activity.
Making a plan and Going to the abroad is a horse of a different color.

M : I know that, thanks.

Hmm. If you said like Frank, you would be a nosy.

Take the Bull by the horns

Hmm,let's see.
It means 'take decisive action in a difficult situation'
(decisive?:very important for the final result of a particular situation.
e.g. He take a decisive role in my play.)

It can be hard to understand for you.
OK, we can make a simple monolog.

'...Eric didn't get his right in the bar(means:a law court)
And his lawyer really took the bull by the horns to win a trial.
So Eric could win a lawsuit.'

I think I didn't make a good example situation.
You could comment to me or e-mail me to correct, or find a better monolog.

Fishy

..Look at the store, it's a 11'o clock now. And I saw the light in the store.
There is something fishy going on.

Go to the Dogs

It means 'become run-down'

We can think a conversation like :

A : Hmm, your car is gone to the dogs.

B : Really? I think it's not so bad.

A : You should take your car to a garage and have it repaired.
Unless, it breaks down completely.

Smell a Rat

(I will post about the American idioms. I hope it will help you.)

Smell a Rat

It means 'feel that something is wrong'

If I said to my friend "Hey, what did you do? I smell a rat."

Then, it means 'I suspect you did something wrong.'
